ENG Badia is a quiet village in the heart of the Dolomites on the edge of the two nature parks Fanes-Sennes-Braies and Puez-Odles. In the village of Badia there are still numerous farms that have retained the Ladin architecture. The village is strongly tied to its traditions and its culture, events such as the "Noza da Paur" (farmers wedding) or the ride of San Leoanardo witness to it. Badia belongs to the ski area Alta Badia, with 130 km of slopes and access to the Sella ronda. The San Leonardo church is one of the most beautiful churches in South Tyrol. The refuge Santa Croce is located in a beautiful setting at the foot of the “Sass dla Crusc”, nearby the Santa Croce church. (2,045 m above sea level), it can be reached on foot or by chairlift. In the locality of Sotciastel, archaeological finds from the Mesolytic and Bronze ages, evidence of the first settlement of the Ladin people, were discovered at the end of the 1980s. The finds are exhibited in the Museum Ladin in San Martino in Badia. Badia is the birthplace of St Joseph Freinademetz.
